Versus values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our service effectively.
Introduction
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Versus ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our opinion-based prediction market platform (the "Platform"). Versus is designed as a privacy-preserving platform. We aim to collect only the minimum personal data necessary to provide you with the service. By using Versus, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Privacy Principles
  • Data Minimization: We collect only the minimum data needed to operate the Platform effectively.
  • Transparency: We clearly communicate what information we collect and how we use it.
  • Security: We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data.
  • No Data Sales: We do not sell or share your personal data for marketing purposes.
Information We Collect
Authentication Data: When you register or log in through X (formerly Twitter), we use Magic Labs to handle authentication. We receive a pseudonymous identifier for your account and your associated blockchain wallet address. We do not collect or store passwords – authentication is handled externally by Magic Labs. X Social Verification: If you connect your X account to verify your profile, we can view and display your public X username and profile picture. We will not post, message, or interact on your behalf, nor access your private data such as DMs. By connecting your social media account, you create a public link between your X identity and your Versus activity. Blockchain Data: Your transactions (trades, market participation) are recorded on public blockchains. This data is public by nature and includes your wallet address and transactional activity. We read this data to display your portfolio and process trades, but we do not associate your blockchain address with your real-world identity. Log and Technical Data: Our servers may automatically record information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and access timestamps. We use this data to ensure service delivery, monitor technical issues, and prevent malicious activity. IP addresses may be used to enforce regional restrictions for compliance purposes. Cookies and Local Storage: We use minimal cookies or local storage to maintain your session and remember your preferences (such as theme). These are essential cookies, not advertising trackers. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect functionality.
How We Use Your Information
  • Service Delivery: To provide and maintain the Platform, display your markets and positions, and facilitate trades.
  • Authentication: To securely log you in and manage your account sessions.
  • Compliance: To enforce regional restrictions and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Communication: To send essential service announcements or respond to your inquiries (if you provided contact information).
  • Improvement: To analyze usage patterns in aggregate form to improve features and fix bugs.
  • Security: To investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents and protect the Platform and users.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
Service Providers: We use third-party providers to operate the Platform, including: • Magic Labs for authentication and wallet management • Cloud hosting providers for infrastructure • Analytics or crash reporting tools (if used, configured to avoid collecting personal data) These providers process data only for the purposes of providing their services to us and are contractually bound to protect your information. Public Information: Market content you create (questions, positions) and your blockchain transactions are visible to other users as part of the Platform's transparency. However, we do not expose personal details like your real name or email to other users. Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Versus, our users, or the public. Business Transfers: If Versus is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. The new entity would be bound by terms at least as protective as this Privacy Policy.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data: • Encryption: All data transfers use HTTPS/TLS encryption. Sensitive data at rest is encrypted. • Access Controls: Access to systems storing personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only. • Monitoring: We monitor systems for vulnerabilities and attacks, and keep software updated. • Minimal Data Collection: By not collecting unnecessary data, we reduce the risk and impact of potential breaches. While we take security seriously, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. You also play a role in security by protecting your account credentials and wallet access.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service or as required by law: • Account data is retained while your account is active • Server logs are typically retained for a few weeks, then deleted or aggregated • Communications with support may be retained until your issue is resolved and for a reasonable period thereafter • Blockchain data cannot be deleted as it is recorded on public ledgers When we no longer need data, we securely destroy it or anonymize it so it can no longer be associated with you.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data: • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (note: blockchain data cannot be deleted) • Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data • Portability: Obtain your data in a transferable format • Object: Object to processing of your data • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time To exercise these rights, contact us at hey@vs.xyz. We will verify your identity before fulfilling requests and respond within the timeframe required by law.
International Data Transfers
Versus's service is global, and data may be processed in various countries. We ensure that your data receives adequate protection in all jurisdictions where we process it, complying with applicable data protection laws including GDPR requirements for international transfers.
Children's Privacy
Versus is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe we might have information from a minor should contact us immediately.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will revise the "Last Updated" date and provide notice of significant changes through the Platform or by email. Continued use of Versus after changes take effect signifies your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with updates, you should stop using the Platform and may request deletion of your data.
